12-year-old killed in farm accident

The boy became trapped under a tractor on a farm in Kerrykeel, Donegal.

A 12-YEAR-OLD boy has died after becoming trapped underneath a tractor on a farm.

The incident occurred in Kerrykeel, Donegal, this afternoon.

Gardaí were informed of the accident at around 12.30pm.

The Health and Safety Authority are investigating the incident.

Gardaí said the boy became trapped under the tractor and was then freed and removed to Letterkenny Hospital. He was pronounced dead a short while later.

The scene has been preserved for the investigation.

Farms can be so dangerous for young children in the Summer months with all the activity. Rest in peace young fella and sincere condolences to your family.

  Guys not necessarily trolls it happens the best of us, when we scroll down the screen we tend to tap somewhere right mid screen and drag down and alot of the time u hit a thumbs down by mistake but it’s too late after you’ve done it, I’d like to give humanity the Benefit of the doubt in that there is no way someone could thumb down michelles comment..

Our kids always plague their da to bring them on the tractor while bringing in silage/putting out slurry etc., I always so no no no and feel such an aul bag always saying no, as they think theyll be safe with their da and he’ll keep them safe and I’m sure he would but he can’t be watching them the whole time, it’s such a dangerous place. Heart felt condolences to the family. RIP.

I played/ helped out on a farm from ages 10- 14 great times, of course I did many dangerous things, only now looking back do I realise how dangerous. Kids rarely see danger, thankfully there are now health and safety regulations, but accidents do happen.

Something similar happened to my sister’s friend in Meath a few weeks back. Really really sad story, my heart goes out to the family. I don’t think there is anything worse for a parent than to lose a child.
