13-year-old boy knocked down and killed in Donegal

A man in his late 50s was also injured in the incident at Buncrana.

A 13-YEAR-OLD boy was knocked down and killed in Donegal last night.

The young teenager was walking on the main Buncrana to Carndonagh Road at about 10.30pm when he was struck by a car.

Another pedestrian – a man in his late 50s – was also injured in the incident and taken to Letterkenny General Hospital. Gardaí said his injuries are understood to be not life-threatening.

The boy was pronounced dead at the scene and his body removed to the same hospital. A post-mortem exam will be carried out today.

The road at Ballymacarry in Buncrana remains closed for forensic examinations.

Investigating gardaí have appealed for witnesses to contact them at the local station on 074 932 0540 or the Confidential Line on 1800 666 111.
