This 1930s Christmas card is pretty timeless...

Just add a ‘water charges’ stocking and it’s Christmas 2014.

THIS 1930s CARTOON from the National Library of Ireland’s Gordon Brewster Collection has a pretty modern message.

Poor Father Christmas looks pretty frazzled at all those big stockings to fill – something  a lot of people in Ireland can associate with today. Someone just needs to tack a ‘water charges’ sock onto the end of the bed there…
