Bad news: 27 jobs to go at Waterford company

The workers were told about the closure of the company at lunchtime today.

TWENTY SEVEN STAFF in a Waterford factory have been told they’re losing their jobs.

Honeywell Process Solutions will close later this year.

Staff at the company were called into a meeting at lunchtime today and told the news.

Independent TD for Waterford, Deputy John Halligan said that he believes the work is being moved to Bulgaria.

“As it is, Waterford is an unemployment blackspot and this latest blow means yet another 27 families in the city are facing the prospect of unemployment this year.”

The factory, formerly known as Measurex is located in the IDA industrial estate in Waterford city.

Halligan said:

There are areas of Waterford city where unemployment stands at well over 40%. We don’t need any more lip-service jobs plans from the Government, we need Waterford to become a priority for targeted investment.
