1. #SWORDS: Gardaí have issued a renewed appeal for witnesses and any video footage of a brutal attack with a baseball bat on a man in Swords, Co Dublin yesterday.

2 .#GILLIGAN: Crime boss John Gilligan, who is due to be released form prison next week, said he will not do any media interviews when he gets out – not even for €1 million.

3. #SEX OFFENDERS: The government has promised that there will be “no foot-dragging” in publishing legislation to deal with sex offenders, as the Dáil debated Denis Naughten’s bill today.

4. #DUCK!: An animal rights group has blamed RTÉ’s crime drama Love/Hate for a horrific incident in Edenderry in which a large number of ducks had their heads cut off, saying it wasn’t a coincidence that the event happened a week after the programme showed a cat being shot dead.

5. #PEACE: The Organisation for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) has been awarded the Nobel Peace Prize for 2013, for its “long-standing efforts” to rid the world of chemical weapons.
