3. #JOBSWATCH: There were 40 new jobs announced in a pharmaceutical plant in Athlone, another 50 at a call centre in Cork and almost 140 at a new pharmaceutical production site in Connemara, according to RTÉ.

4. #STINKY: Minister Joan Burton’s department spent almost €4,000 investigating smells in 2011. The foul odours were sniffed out in offices in Mayo and Cork.

5. #MEOW: A man in France has appeared in court accused of throwing a four-month-old kitten into the air and uploading a video of it onto his Facebook page.
