1. #KNIFE ATTACK A woman has been arrested after turning up at a Mayo school and threatening the Principal with a knife. The incident occurred at 9.30am today at St Muredach’s College, an all-boys school.

2. #JOBSWATCH Tipperary and Limerick are set to get a boost of 46 new jobs. The jobs are a cooperative effort between electricity provider Pinergy and management company DSM. The positions will be in sales and based in DSM’s offices across the two counties.

3. #IRISH RAIL Irish Rail and unions will attend talks at the Labour Relations Commission tomorrow. They are looking for a solution ahead of planned stoppages in September, which would affect people going to the All-Ireland hurling and football finals.

4. #TERROR THREAT The UK has increased its terror threat level from “substantial” to “severe” in response to developments in Iraq and Syria. This means it is at its highest level since July 2011.

5. #ICELAND Icelandic airspace was closed and then reopened after an eruption next to the Bardarbunga volcano. Initially, airspace up to 5,000 feet in the area of the eruption was closed. It was reopened hours later.
