GOOD EVENING

The 5 at 5 5 stories, 5 minutes, 5 o’clock…

You may have noticed that there is something a little odd about our five image today. The author showed the original, lovely image around the office, bemoaning photographers who capture things in groups of four. “Just add another one in there will ye?” she sighed. Her colleague Jen Wade came up with this solution. Genius. Have you got an actual five picture? Send it to us at news@thejournal.ie. Ta! And now to the news…

EVERY WEEKDAY EVENING, TheJournal.ie brings you the five stories you need to know as you head out the door.

1. #JOBSWATCH: Paddy Power is to create 600 new jobs in Dublin over the next three years, the bookmakers revealed today. Meanwhile, Sinn Féin has launched its job plan which claims that 156,000 additional jobs could be delivered.

2. #INFLATION: The cost of living in Ireland fell by 0.1 per cent last month, according to the latest data from the CSO. However, the price of clothing, footwear, alcohol and fuel all increased in September and the annual rate of inflation was 1.6 per cent.
