1.#GUILTY: Two former executives of Anglo Irish Bank have been found guilty of giving unlawful financial assistance to ten developers. Pat Whelan, 52 of Malahide and Willie McAteer, 63 of Rathgar, were both found not guilty of giving illegal loans to members of the Quinn family.

2.#STRANDED: Shareholders at motor insurance firm Setanta Insurance Limited have decided to wind the company up, leaving thousands of policy holders without cover and not saying whether ongoing claims will be met.

3.#KOREA: Around 287 people are still missing after a ferry overturned in South Korea yesterday. Local media has printed some messages sent to families of those missing, including one that said “Mom, I love you”.

4.#HEARTBLEED: Police in Canada have arrested a 19-year-old they believe stole taxpayers data using the “Heartbleed” bug. Stephen Arthuro Solis-Reyes was arrested in his home in London, Ontario today by Canadian federal police, who say he may have stolen 900 social security numbers.

5.#KIDS IN CARS: The Seanad today passed a law that will ban smoking in cars that have children in them. The government has indicated it will support the law when it makes its way to the Dáil.
