1. #DEPARTMENT STORE: The High Court has confirmed the appointment of an examiner to Debenhams Retail (Ireland) Ltd. Over 1,400 staff are directly employed while 500 concessions staff and 300 cosmetics staff also work in the company’s 11 stores.

2. #LUAS TALK: Strikes on the Luas light rail system in Dublin planned for tomorrow afternoon and all day Friday have been called off. Siptu has accepted an invitation to the Labour Court for talks.

3. #CHILD BENEFIT: A plan to link school attendance to the payment of child benefit has been scrapped. The idea was part of the Programme for Government, but new social protection minister Leo Varadkar now says the plan wouldn’t improve school attendance.

4. #THE COMMISSIONER: The Garda Commissioner has broken her silence on allegations that she advised her legal team to challenge the integrity, motivation and credibility of whistleblower Maurice McCabe. Nóirín O’Sullivan denies that her senior counsel was instructed – at any stage – to impugn the integrity of the sergeant.

5. #THE DONALD: Anti-Trump protesters hurled rocks and bottles outside a rally he spoke at in New Mexico, as the likely GOP nominee won the Republican presidential primary in Washington state.
