1. #STORYFUL Rebekah Brooks, who was acquitted of phone hacking charges last year, will return to News Corp to head up Irish-founded company Storyful, reports this morning say. Storyful was acquired by News Corp for $18m in 2013.

2. #SHOCKING An investigation has been launched into the shooting dead of a homeless man in Los Angeles. The LAPD said that the police tried to use a stun gun on the man before shooting him.

3. #FACEPAINT The mother of a girl (5) who was pictured with a sectarian slogan on her forehead won’t be prosecuted, the Irish News reports. A file was sent to the Public Prosecution Service, which the paper says has chosen not to proceed.

4. #SNOWY DAYS The weather is still cold out there – so take care on the roads, as a national snow-ice warning is in place until 9pm. There could be more snow to come, mostly in the west, says Met Éireann.

5. #SUNBEDS New regulations governing sunbed use come into play today. Warning signs will have to be displayed and ‘happy hours’ or unlimited use offers are now banned. On-the-spot fines will be handed to businesses who fail to comply with the changes.

6. #UP UP DOWN There was another surge in construction activity in the residential sector last year, but growth fell sharply towards the end of 2014. The latest housing index says that the best performing county for planning applications was Wicklow.

7. #SEARCH The government is committed to locating ‘Disappeared’, Minister for Justice Frances Fitzgerald has said. RTÉ reports that it is expected the search for one of the six people still missing will get under way later this month.

8. #UKRAINE More than 6,000 people have been killed since violence erupted in Ukraine almost a year ago. A new UN report says there has been a ‘serious escalation’ of the conflict since the start of 2015.

9. #IN TALKS Officials from the Department of Education will meet with education groups today to outline plans for the new junior cycle roll out, RTÉ reports.
