The 9 at 9 The terror attacks in Spain are dominating the headlines this morning.

1. #CAMBRILS: Spanish police shot dead five terror attackers in the seaside town of Cambrils overnight. Seven people were injured.

2. #BARCELONA: The death toll from yesterday’s attack stands at 13. Over 100 people have been injured in the terror attack.

3. #IRISH FAMILY: The Department of Foreign Affairs confirmed that an Irish family was caught up in the attack in Las Ramblas. The father and son have been injured. The 5-year-old son may need an operation to his leg.

4. #CONDEMNATION: Spanish and world leaders have condemned the terror attacks, expressing outrage and solidarity with the victims. The Spanish royal family issued this strongly-worded statement: “They are assassins, criminals who won’t terrorise us. All of Spain is Barcelona”.

5. #TRUMP President Trump is coming in for criticism after he appeared to endorse the idea of mass executions for Islamist extremists.  He alluded in a Twitter post to a widely debunked account of summary punishment by a US general in the Philippines in the early 1900s.

6. #BALLYMUN: The community in Ballymun is rallying together after Wednesday’s double murder. ”There is so much more to a community than the bad things that happen in it,” the head of a local arts centre told us.

7. #THE REBEL COUNTY: The Mayor of Cork County Council has slammed recommendations that would redraw the boundary with Cork City Council.

8. #PERSONAL INJURIES: Solicitor John McCarthy writes that changes to the personal injury claims system should not adversely affect genuine claimants.

9. #THE WEATHER: The outlook for today isn’t great. According to Met Éireann, it will become blustery with showers possibly merging to longer spells of thundery rain.
