1. #EXTRADITION: Former Anglo Irish Bank boss David Drumm has been labelled “a clear flight risk” by a US judge as he seeks to be released on bail in advance of his extradition hearing.

2. #DRONE STRIKE: US officials are confident that British Islamic State militant Jihadi John has been killed in a drone strike. Mohammed Emwazi has featured in a number of videos in which Western hostages were beheaded.

3. #ABUSE CLAIMS: The resignation of former Fianna Fáil minister Pat Carey as the director of elections for his party continues to grab headlines this morning.  Carey said he does not know if he is the minister at the centre of a garda investigation into allegations of child abuse.

4. #BALCONY COLLAPSE: More than 30 companies are facing legal action over the Berkeley balcony collapse that left six Irish students dead and seven injured, RTÉ News reports. Proceedings have been launched by the families of the victims and survivors.

5. #A BIG GALE: Motorists are being urged to take care on the roads this morning after Storm Abigail battered the country overnight. This morning the high winds remain and Friday the 13th is set to be a cold and “very blustery day”.

6. #WHEELS ON THE BUS: Drivers at Dublin Bus have expressed concern about health and safety after a wheel came loose and fell off a bus in the city centre this week. Some say they do not have adequate training or tools to perform morning safety checks.

7. #MIGRANT CRISIS: The government will have to hand over €28.5 million in emergency funds to help Turkey handle an influx of migrants, The Irish Times reports. It’s part of a €3 billion EU action plan.

8. #HISTORIC: Aung San Suu Kyi’s party has secured a parliamentary majority from last weekend’s polls that will allow it to elect a president and form a government in a historic shift in power from the army, AFP reports.

9. #GET WELL SOON: Terry Wogan has pulled out of tonight’s BBC Children in Need fundraiser for health reasons. It’s the first time the Limerick-born broadcaster will not have hosted the telethon since its launch in 1980.
