1. #ARRESTS Two men are still being detained in Dublin garda stations after being arrested yesterday. A firearm and ammunition were recovered and it is believed the men were linked to the Kinahan gang. Reports this morning say gardaí believe they foiled another gangland attack.

2. #MEATH A woman (25) has died following a collision in Co Meath. Gardaí are looking for witnesses to the two-car collision.

3. #POLL Micheál Martin remains the most popular party leader in Ireland, according to a new poll in the Sunday Times. It also says that Fine Gael remains the most popular party, followed closely by Fianna Fáil.

4. #MOUNTAIN LION A boy aged five was mauled by a mountain lion while playing in his yard in Colorado yesterday – but his life was saved when his mother grabbed him from the lion’s jaws. The boy suffered minor injuries.

5. #JULIAN ASSANGE Extradition avoider Julian Assange is to begin his fifth year camped out in a London embassy today. Supporters have planned events across Europe to mark the day.

6. #ROME Rome is poised to elect its first female mayor, Virginia Raggi (37) a lawyer and local councillor. Polling stations open at 7am this morning.

7. #HIT THE ROAD Cyclists have been presenting to Emergency Departments after crashing while taking photos, a new survey has shown. Separately, at one hospital in one year 79 cyclists presented following a collision with a motor vehicle, while another 42 crashed into a pedestrian.

8. #MISOGYNY Former Tánaiste Joan Burton writes in the Sunday Independent today that the death of British MP Jo Cox exposes misogyny against women online – and says that society needs to end the abuse women politicians are subjected to on social media.

9. #HOUSING A look at the work of local councils shows how Ireland’s housing crisis spun out of control. Reports from 2012 – 2013 in Wicklow, Bray, Arklow and Kildare show that the current situation is an emergency – but not an unexpected one.
