EVERY DAY, TheJournal.ie brings you nine things you need to know with your morning cup of coffee.

1. #ROAD DEATH: A 28-year-old motorcyclist has been killed in a collision with a car yesterday evening. The collision occurred at Blessington in Wicklow and gardaí are appealing for witnesses to it.

2. #EGYPT: The four Irish siblings who are being detained in Egypt after being arrested earlier this month will today face a prosecutor in Cairo. Minister of State Joe Costello has said that their “fate will be decided today”.

3. #TURKEY: It is expected that a verdict will be given in the trial of a father and son accused of murdering two Irish women in Turkey in 2011. The bodies of the women, who were stabbed multiple times, were discovered in a forest near the resort they were staying at.

4. #VOLUNTEERING: Overseas development is worth €10 million and almost 500 jobs to the Irish economy according to a report due to be published today. The study also found that an estimated 4,500 Irish people volunteered overseas last year.

5. #CANCER: The Irish Cancer Society has announced it is making a €1.5 million investment in a new research centre that will bring together Ireland’s leading breast cancer researchers. They will collaborate on a new project designed to predict the best treatment option for breast cancer patients.

6. #CAO: Points for construction-related courses have dropped as the second round of CAO offers were made available today, The Irish Times reports. Over 3,000 offers of college places will be made to students today, with the deadline for accepting offers set for next Wednesday at 5.15pm.

7. #KENYA: 41 people have been killed in a bus crash in Kenya with police saying all indications point to speeding and possible overloading, AFP reports. A police official said the scene was “horrible”, with “bodies strewn all over”.

8. #TWITTER: Twitter users will now be able to report abusive tweets with the site introducing a new button across all platforms, The Telegraph reports. The move follows a campaign by a number of women who had been targeted on the site including freelance journalist Caroline Craido Perez and British MP Stella Creasy.

9. #WEATHER WOES: We’re sorry to be the ones to tell you this, but you may not be able to blame your crankiness on the miserable weather when it kicks in. A new study has found that the time of year and weather conditions don’t actually influence depressive symptoms and the ‘winter blues’ are not that common at all.
