1. #SUPPORT A new poll shows that support for Fianna Fáil is surging. Micheál Martin is currently the most popular party leader, according to the poll conducted by Ipsos/MRBI for the Irish Times.

2. #FINE GAEL At Fine Gael’s parliamentary party meeting last night, members discussed who should lead the party when Enda Kenny steps down. Kenny also surprised people by appointing James Reilly as the party’s deputy leader, reports RTÉ.

3. #TORIES The final two candidates in the tense race for Tory leadership will be decided today. The three candidates left are Andrea Leadsom, Michael Gove and Theresa May – and so far, May is said to be the favourite.

4. #JEAN MCCONVILLE A decision is expected today on whether Ivor Bell will stand trial for the killing of Jean McConville, one of Northern Ireland’s Disappeared.

5. #CHILCOT REPORT There are numerous mentions of Northern Ireland and the PSNI in the Chilcot report. The inquiry found that a Snatch Land Rover, which was designed for operations in Northern Ireland but by 2003 was deemed obsolete, was suggested for use in Iraq.

6. #ABORTION Mick Wallace’s bill which would allow termination in the case of fatal foetal abnormality will be voted on today. Here’s our explainer on the bill and why it has been causing so much controversy.

7. #SHOOTING Another black man has been shot by police in the United States. Philando Castle was shot inside his car in front of his partner and daughter. The aftermath was streamed live on Facebook.

8. #BANGLADESH A deadly attack has taken place in Bangladesh as 200,000 people gathered to pray to mark the end of Ramadan. It’s the latest in a series of attacks in the country.

9. #DIVORCE An archbishop in Philadelphia, Charles Chaput, has said that divorced Catholics should avoid sex and live ‘as brother and sister’.
