GOOD MORNING

The 9 at 9 Good morning! Here’s everything you need to know as you launch yourself into Friday…

EVERY MORNING, TheJournal.ie brings you nine things you need to know with your morning cup of coffee.

1 #LEICESTER: Police have confirmed that a body found in Leicester Square, London has been identified as that of missing Irish student Patrick Halpin. The death of the 18-year-old from Galway is not being treated as suspicious.

2.#ATM: The Gardaí are searching for three men after shots were fired during an attempted ATM raid in Enniscorthy, Wexford.

3.#HOSPITALISED: Fifteen young people were taken to hospital after a gig in Belfast last night and 20 fell ill. It’s believed drugs and drink  were the main causes. Police say no one was seriously injured. DJ Hardwell who was playing at the gig last night plans to go ahead with his Dublin gig tonight.

4. #ASYLUM: An ESRI report shows that over half of asylum seekers in the ‘reception system’ in Ireland have been there  for over three years.

5. #WEATHER: Forecasters warn that bad weather will continue “as far ahead as we can see”. Sorry.

6 #ANGLO: All eyes on the Criminal Courts of Justice today as Sean Quinn is likely to make an appearance as a witness at the Anglo trial.

7 #ARREST: A 23-year-old man has been charged after a baby was left in a critical condition after an attack in Belfast.

8. #INSPECTION: A new HSA inspection carried out last month’s tragic lift incident in Galway, where 3-year-old Solomon Soremekum died has been published. The agency wants employers and building owners to ensure their lifts are thoroughly inspected.

9 #CROKER: Residents living near Croke Park are less than happy about Garth Brooks’ record-breaking Dublin appearances. They may seek an injunction against the summer concerts. That would be quite the disappointment for at least 400,000 people across the island.
