1. #CAO 2014: All of Ireland’s cities have seen a rise in rents, according to a new report from Daft.ie. The average rent in Dublin is now €1,345.

2. #C-SECTION: In an interview with The Irish Times, the woman at the centre of the latest abortion controversy has said she attempted to take her own life 16 weeks into her pregnancy. She was a victim of rape before coming to Ireland, and only discovered she was pregnant once here.

3. #GAZA: A new 24-hour ceasefire has come into effect in the Gaza Strip after Israeli and Palestinian negotiators agreed to extend a five-day truce.

4. #PAYBACK: Local authorities are still owed more than €570 million in development levies. Just over €100 million is owed to Dún Laoghaire-Rathdown County Council.

5. #FIVE LAMPS: A 63-year-old man has been arrested following a fatal stabbing at a chipper in Dublin’s North Inner City on Sunday night.

6. #DEFENCE FORCES: A fleet-wide survey for asbestos on Irish Naval Service ships has begun, the Irish Examiner reports. There have been attempts in the past to to remove the substance from ships

7. #UNITED STATES: Two students in the Los Angeles area have been arrested on suspicion of plotting a mass shooting at a high school. The two adolescents planned to kill three staff members and as many students as possible, police said.

8. #IN THE MONEY: A new report has suggested that banks are making as much as €1 billion a year in ‘super profits’ through overcharging for home loans, the Irish Independent reports.

9. #ZZZZZZZZZ: A plane was forced to delay its landing in China yesterday after two air traffic controllers nodded off. In fairness, it was Monday.
