1. #ABDUCTION: Gardaí are appealing for information after a man was abducted from an estate in Co Cavan. 31-year-old Richard O’Donovan was bundled into a jeep at around 3.30pm yesterday at Swiftbrook Glen, Virginia, after the vehicle had collided with his car.

2. #ABUSE: A new report on child survivors of sexual violence finds that children under 13 are most vulnerable to sexual assault perpetrated by a male family member. Children 13 and over are most at risk from rape perpetrated by a male non-family member at a location outside the home. The average age of perpetrators is 26.

3. #DOCTORS: The strike by junior doctors ended at midnight. Their union, the IMO, will meet today to discuss its options, and will consider an invitation to go back to Labour Relations Commission talks. The union has said it will continue with further industrial action until the HSE agrees to end shifts that last longer than 24 hours.

4. #ANGLO: Customers of the disgraced lender were overcharged over a period of 14 years, the special liquidators of IBRC have admitted in court in the US. Customers in Ireland, the Isle of Man and UK were overcharged between 1990 and 2004.

5. #HATCHET Gardaí are on a manhunt after a man entered a Dublin pub wielding a hatchet and causing chaos, today’s Herald reports. He was disarmed by a customer in the pub and fled the scene. It happened on Sunday while customers in the Long Island bar were watching Love/Hate .

6. #GROWTH Good news from the ESRI this morning in its latest forecast. The think tank says the Irish economy could grow by around two per cent in GNP based on growth in employment.

7. #JIHAD: 139 people have been arrested in western China for ‘spreading jihad’, according to state-run media. Beijing has pointed to a rising militant threat in the area, but information in the vast Xinjiang region is tightly controlled, and the Uighur ethnic minority have complained of repression.


8. #CRIMEWATCH: The Criminal Assets Bureau is auctioning a ladies Rolex watch it seized from a Limerick crime boss. Fancy bidding for it? Head on over to eBay.
