AER LINGUS HAS announced it will take on 12 cadet pilots to join their 2016 training programme in January.

The airline is planning on bringing the number of new recruits since 2012 to 60 by bringing in the new staff to fly their Airbus A320 aircraft.

The cadet pilot training programme takes around 14 months to complete and consists of a number of phases, involving classroom study and flight training.

The training will take place at Flight Training Europe (FTE) in Jerez, Spain and Aer Lingus is funding the entire programme for successful applicants.

Aer lingus says applicants should have “a technical aptitude and display maturity, commitment, flexibility, motivation and a willingness to accept responsibility.

“Excellent communication, interpersonal, problem-solving and teamwork skills are essential qualities combined with a good appreciation of our guests’ expectations.”

Once the cadet pilots have qualified from flight school, they will be scheduled for the Airbus A320 type-rating programme.
