Man in his 60s receives puncture wounds in aggravated burglary

The suspect fled the scene but after an immediate search operation, a man in his early 30s and a woman in her mid 20s were arrested.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested after a man in his 60s received puncture wounds during an aggravated burglary in Cork last night.

A man entered a house at Pauds Cross in Blarney shortly after 9pm and was confronted by the owner.

A struggle ensued and the owner of the house received a number of puncture wounds. He was taken to Cork University Hospital, but he has since been released.

The suspect fled the scene but after an immediate search operation, a man in his early 30s and a woman in her mid 20s were arrested.

They are being held at Gurranabraher and Mayfield Garda Stations.

The scene remains preserved for a technical examination and the investigation is ongoing. Gardaí are appealing for witness to contact Gurranabraher Garda Station at 021-4946207, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111 or any garda station.
