UPDATE: AIB cards hit with problems again today

For the second day in a row, debit card holders can’t get money from non-AIB ATMs.

Updated 7.30pm

DEBIT CARD HOLDERS are experiencing problems with their cards for the second day in a row.

A spokesperson told TheJournal.ie that the problem relates to AIB debit card holders trying to access their money from non-AIB ATMs.

In a statement this evening, the bank said:

“AIB wishes to advise that we are currently experiencing some issues with our debit cards. AIB debit cardholders are unable currently to withdraw cash at other banks ATMs.

“Customers are able to use their AIB Debit cards to withdraw cash at AIB ATMs, point of sale terminals and on online shopping channels.

However, AIB customers using AIB ATMs could be impacted if they have previously attempted to withdraw funds at a non-AIB ATM earlier today, where the total value of their attempts is greater than the daily €600 ATM withdrawal limit.

“At midnight, AIB customers’ €600 ATM daily withdrawal limit will be reset. Cashback at point of sale continues to be available subject to retailer policy up to €100 per transaction…

“We are investigating this issue and will take all necessary steps to resolve as quickly as possible. AIB apologises to all customers for any inconvenience caused by this issue.”

Credit cards are working as normal.

A similar issue caused problems for the bank yesterday, but was resolved.
