AIB investigating double charging issue

AIB says that nobody will be left out of pocket by the error.

AIB HAS CONFIRMED that it is investigating the cause of some debit cards being charged twice.

Customers who used the cards have been charged for transactions at merchant terminals twice.

It is believed that some scripts ran twice on Monday, but AIB says that it does not yet know what caused the issue.

A number of people who bank with AIB told TheJournal.ie that the fault had left them out of money this week.

AIB’s Head of Technology John O’Dwyer said that the issue is “well in hand”.

He told RTÉ’s Morning Ireland that no customer will be left out of pocket as a result of the problem.
