The Life of Brian voted funniest film, but spoof disaster film Airplane generates more laughs per minute.

SPOOF DISASTER FILM Airplane is the funniest film ever made, generating three laughs a minute on average.

Surveying a panel of its subscribers, movie subscription service LOVEFiLM calculated the precise number of ‘laughs a minute’ for the top 10 comedies chosen by them.

The company then recorded the number of times each film generated a laugh, before dividing it by the total length of minutes of the film. In such a way, they were able to calculate the precide ‘Laugh a Minute’ rating.

It was followed by ‘The Hangover, at 2.4 laughs a minute and The Naked Gun, with 2.3 laughs a minute.
