EVER WANTED TO OWN an actual shebeen? Well you mightn’t get a better chance than this with the Shebeen Bar on Carrick On Suir up for grabs for just €10,000.

The bar is not actually a functioning public house anymore and there are in fact health and safety concerns over the building, so it’s perhaps not a purchase for the faint hearted.

The property has a ground floor bar area with two upper floors and is one of 190 lots that will be on sale on 25 February in the RDS in Dublin as part of an Allsop Space property auction.

The total reserve on the properties is €27 million and if reached would top the €24 million worth of property sold in the company’s auction in December which they described as ‘the largest ever in Ireland’.

A number of previous Allsop auctions have drawn protests and have been described as “distressed property actions” by those objecting. Allsop Space have pledge that no repossessed family homes would be sold at any of their auctions including this one.

A number of other notable properties are up for sale in the auction, with a five-floor Georgian building on Dublin’s Gardiner street perhaps one of the the most recognisable.

The property currently has nine residential units and one office unit renting space in the building and has a reserve of €580,000. All the spaces together have a total rent of just over €70,000.

The most expensive property expected to sell is a 390 sq. m retail space in the heart of Galway city that has seen a €1.9 million reserve placed on it.

The property also has three apartments above it with the retail unit currently occupied by a Spar franchise €190,000 a year lease that won’t expire util 2041.

The auction catalogue shows that about 81 of out the properties up for sale are houses with 18 lots of land also featured.

The auction takes place on Tuesday 25 February at 9am.
