PLANS TO DEVELOP the second phase of a housing scheme on the site of the former Dún Laoghaire Golf Club have been approved, according to reports from RTÉ.
An Bord Pleanála overruled an inspector’s report today to give the go-ahead for 605 residential units on the northern section of the development. The plans are mainly for apartment blocks, some of which are as high as seven storeys.
The board said that the “coherent approach” of the proposals submitted, as well as the commitment to follow sustainability guidelines set out, meant that granting permission at this point was not premature.
It added that the approval of a high density development would not cause problems because of the location.
The planners, Cosgrave Developments, has already been granted permission for 856 units on the southern section .
A small number of houses on the site are expected to go on sale next month.
