Apology: Mr Viktoras Jenkus

Correction.

ON THE 17 May 2017 we published a photo of two individuals which accompanied an article entitled ‘Trio charged with serious and prolonged late night Garda assault in Mayo remanded on bail’. The individual to the right of the photograph was Viktoras Jenkus and by reason of mistake the caption wrongly identified him as one of the accused persons who was charged before the district court with assaulting two Gardaí.
TheJournal.ie acknowledges that the photograph and identification of Viktoras Jenkus was defamatory of him. We wish to apologise to Mr Jenkus for the distress and embarrassment caused to him and accept that he has no connection whatsoever with the incident reported upon or the proceedings before the Court.
