Poll: Should Apple be forced to pay more tax in Ireland?

Ireland’s tax dealings with the company could face censure from the EU.

NEWS THAT APPLE boss Tim Cook has lobbied a top EU official ahead of an imminent decision that could force the company to pay billions of euros in unpaid taxes to Ireland is making international headlines today.

The EU investigation – which Cook has described as “political crap” – is focusing on whether Ireland offered illegal state aid to the US tech giant in exchange for jobs.

The Irish government has long been criticised for its tax arrangements with multinational corporations like Apple – which paid an effective tax rate of less than 2% in Ireland in 2013 – but some say low taxes are needed to attract companies here.

This morning’s poll: Should Apple be forced to pay more tax?

Poll Results:

Yes (8458)
