  • Martin McGuinness wins this one……… No.1 and no transfers!
I’m worried about one thing (as regards these interviews)…….. re Mr. Gallagher’s interview; the Irish flag, the pseudo presidential setting and more worringly no tough questions about his part/role as a FF insider during the rape of Ireland? The final question asked of the other 5 candidates was designed to highlight what is generally perceived as their weaknesses. What is this Journal.ie……… made your mind up already? As the web news sites lay waste to hardcopy delivery systems (ie newspapers) are you jockeying for position within the establishment?

  • I am pleasantly surprised by Martin’s answers in this short interview. He is a genuine person that is definitely coming up in my ranks. My main problem is whether or not he will shear his links to Sinn Fein if he was to take up office.

  • Martin Mc Guinness again away ahead of the pack,Every one of them should know all the people in the photos if they are to become president. It shows how well grounded Mc Guinness is.He answered all the questions without a problem. The rest of them stammered their way through. We want a person that can make change happen,Mc Guinness proved he can do this.Use common sense in this election folks, forget about the mainstream media, they,re worse than the yanks now, they,re trying hard to hold on to their comfortable lifestyle while the rest of us are getting fleeced. There was 13 oil exploration licence,s given out a few days ago,not to much in the mainstream about it.If the government gets its way on the 27th of the month, they can eventually take control of the justice system.wakey, wakey folks,we,re heading towards a facist state.

I think you over estimate the power of the President. I received a flyer in the post from the McGuinness Camp: ‘Jobs, Fairness and Equality.’

We already have a Minister for Trade and a Minister for Justice. The President has no room for policy or legislative initiatives. The promises he, and other candidates, are making are outlandish!

    • If every one of them shoud know all the people in the photos, it might interest you to know that he got the identity of the rugby player wrong. It was Sean O’Brien, not Cian Healey.

  • I would like to ask Martin McGuinness where he stands on the NATO sponsered invasion of LIBYA by a NATO proxy army of islamicist radicals fresh from Afghanistan, mercenaries and special forces backed up by a bombing campaign perpetrated by 17 bankrupt NATO countries regimes against the recognised and popular sovereign government of Libya.instead he is talking about looking for investment in jobs from the same neo-con financial terrorists (bill and hillary clinton, barack obama,) who have earmarked this country for destuction and are more than happy to carry it out. wikipedia Libyan Islamic Fighting Force to get an idea of who are being installed on europe doorstep as a government fit for purpose over a country that they have just invaded resulting in the deATHS OF100,000 men women and children of Libya.Visit mathaba, org independant news agency.

  • He would so get my vote but for his shady past and inability to be completely truthful about it.

    • Michael, is it the past or the future you are worried about ? Who would you want representing this country and its people ? All the other 6 candidates are in it for the money, McGuinness wants to lead this country out of its darkest days, nothing else. I think these videos show an awful lot of the character of the other 6 candidates. Every one of the others are financial terrorists in one form or another. They want to get their greedy, greasy little mits on the salary and the pension. Yes, McGuinness has a past. We all know about it. But that is history. Look to the next 7 years. Who do you want in the Aras based on what you know about the candidates NOW. Who do you think will work with every fibre of their body to deliver social equality, hold the Financial terrorists to account and bring down the Ivory Tower establishment through purely peaceful means. The media and the Government are terrified of McGuinness getting into the Aras, as it will be a kick in the teeth to their status quo, me fein view of the world. Ireland deserves a good leader.

Cal, you lose all credibility when you accuse Higgins of being in it for the money. What an idiotic statement.

      LMAO!

      M.D. Higgins, Financial Terrorist?

Do you not feel intellectually embarrassed by such a statement?

    • @ BJ, how many pensions is he receiving now? How many was he receiving 3 years ago. How come he used Union dues from SIPTU to pay for all his election campaigns. Do you pay Union dues? Would you like your dues to pay for an election campaign? Is that what the dues are for ? How come he collected Dail expenses when he was in Norway (not even in the country)? What do you call this behaviour? Its robbery. If he stood up and said that he would work for less than 100k per year now, i will retract my statement. But he said its up to the Dail (his party is in Government) to set his wages. His party is giving 700 million euro in 2 weeks time to unsecured bondholders from Anglo, while peolpe in trhis country are commiting suicide because of the financial strain they are under. His party implemented a budget in April that saw welfare payments cut,, Special Needs assistants reduced for the neediest in teh country, and all the while refusing to implement a third level tax rate for those earning over 100k per year. They are all the same… If you dont think this is financial terrorism, you are obviously not being impacted by whats happening in our country. There is no other way to describe this behaviour and strategy , other than Financial Terrorism.

      Irish Indo, 24 April 2010

“Labour’s Michael D Higgins became the latest TD last night to announce he was giving up his pension later this year.
He said he had written to Finance Minister Brian Lenihan to ask him to come up with an across-the-board cut — and had been using his ministerial pension to finance African development projects in the meantime.
“I will end it altogether during this year,” he said.”

Terrorising the people of Africa with charitable donations!

    • @BJ, you just proved my point … look at the fisr statement i made, How many pensions now, and how many 3 years ago … He gave up one pension in 2010 in prep for the 2011 Presidential Election. That horrible little money grabber couldnt have done it after 2007 election??? He is looking for a large wage to take him into retirement. He has said himself, he will run for one term only. and then retire on a presidents salary. He is a thieving financial terrorist. The same with Mitchell and Gallaghers business is going down the swanny, so he needs a dig out. The banks are sure to give his businesses any loans they need, once they can see he is guaranteed a 170k pension per year for life in 7 years.
