FIVE MEN HAVE been arrested as part of a co-ordinated operation between armed gardaí, specialised detectives, and uniformed units.
Detectives from the National Support Services were alerted yesterday evening to two robberies that occurred in quick succession in Drumshambo, Co Leitrim.
A navy coloured Volkswagen Golf had been observed in the area.
Under Operation Fiacla, a nationwide anti-burglary operation, units were sent to monitor traffic on the N4 close to Longford.
Armed gardaí from the Regional Support Unit were also sent to the area, and spotted a vehicle matching the description on the M4 at Johnstown shortly after 11.20pm.
Three teens, one man in his 20s, and another 30-year-old male, were arrested following a search of the car, in which cash and other items were discovered.
They were taken to Carrick on Shannon, Ballymote and Sligo Garda Stations where they are detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984.
