Masked raiders armed with a hammer demand cash from Cork shop till

Two men and one woman have now been released from custody.

THREE PEOPLE HAVE been released without charge after being arrested over an armed robbery in Cork.

Two masked raiders, one armed with a hammer, entered a shop on St Mary’s Road in Cork city at around 4:25 yesterday afternoon.

One of them threatened a female shop assistant and forced her to hand over cash from the till.

They pair then ran out of the shop down Strawhall onto Farran Street, where they got into a small silver hatchback.

At approximately 5.10pm, gardaí intercepted the car at St. John’s Well.

Two men and a woman, all in their 20s, were arrested and taken to Mayfield and the Bridewell Garda stations.

All three have now been released without charge and a file will be prepared for the DPP.
