Woman hit with hammer in armed robbery of fast food restaurant

He made off with cash after hitting the woman.

A WOMAN WAS hit with a hammer in an armed robbery of a fast food restaurant in South Belfast in the early hours of this morning.

A man entered the restaurant at around 12:20 am and made off with cash after hitting the woman.

The staff member, aged in her 20s,  suffered bruising to her side.

He also stole the mobile phone of another staff member, also aged in her 20s.

It happened in the Botanic Avenue area of the city.

The man is described as being of medium build, approximately 5’6″ tall and he was wearing a balaclava, a light blue t-shirt and dark jeans.

A police spokesperson said, “I would appeal to anyone with any information about this incident to contact detectives at Musgrave Police Station on the non emergency number 101. Or if someone would prefer to provide information without giving their details, they can contact the independent charity Crimestoppers and speak to them anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
