Man arrested over Michael Kelly murder

Kelly was shot dead at Grand Canal Place in Dublin on 15 July.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection to the murder of Michael Kelly who was shot dead in Dublin on 15 July.

The man in his 20s was arrested this evening and is being detained at Kevin Street Garda Station.

27-year-old Kelly was found with “obvious gunshot wounds” at Grand Canal Place last month and pronounced dead at the scene. A short time later gardaí recovered a firearm from a burnt out vehicle in Rialto and a number of appeals were made at the time as the incident took place adjacent to a Luas line.

Four people – one man and three women aged in their mid 30s to 40s – were previously arrested in relation to the incident. The were released two days later without charge and a file was sent to the Director of Public Prosecutions.
