Man arrested in connection with Pat Deasy assault

Gardaí investigating the serious assault of Pat Deasy in Cork city have arrested a man in Mahon.

A MAN HAS been arrested in connection with the serious assault of another man in Cork at the weekend. The victim later died in hospital.

Gardaí at Anglesea St investigating the serious assault of Pat Deasy, which occurred on 22 September, have arrested a man in his mid 20s in the Mahon area of Cork.

The arrest took place this morning shortly after 9am.

The man is currently detained at Bridewell Garda Station in Cork under the provisions of the Section 4 Criminal Justice Act 1984 as amended.

Gardaí are investigating the serious assault on Deasy, which occurred at 12.55pm on 22 September at a pub on Avenue De Rennes, Mahon.

Deasy was brought to hospital following the assault, and was pronounced dead on the afternoon of 24 September at University Hospital Cork.
