Man arrested over shooting that saw bullets strike passing car

Two people escaped unharmed after shots struck their car on Saturday morning in Greystones.

GARDAÍ IN CO Wicklow have arrested a man in connection with a shooting in Greystones on Saturday morning.

Shots were fired during an incident involving a number of males on Farrankelly Road near the town at around 11am on Saturday, gardaí confirmed at the weekend.

Two shots struck the car of a passing motorist.

The driver and passenger in the car escaped unharmed and no one else was injured in the incident.

Those involved in the shootout fled the scene before gardaí arrived.

A forensic and technical examination was carried out on the car following the shooting, and in a fresh appeal issued on Monday gardaí said they were looking for information on two vehicles which may be connected with it: a white/off-white Ford Transit and a silver or light blue Audi A4 with a 08 registration.

Gardaí confirmed today that a 34-year-old had been arrested. He’s being detained at Bray Garda Station under the provisions of Section 30 of the Offences Against the State Act.
