Arrests in Seamus Doherty murder investigation

Seamus Doherty was found dead at a house in Drumacnoo in Churchill, Co Donegal, on 17 June. A man and a woman have been arrested by gardaí investigating his death.

TWO PEOPLE HAVE been arrested by gardaí as part of the investigation into the murder of Seamus Doherty.

A male aged in his 40s was arrested yesterday evening, 20 June, and a female in her 50s was arrested this morning. They are both detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984, at Letterkenny Garda Station.

Gardaí in Millford launched an investigation after Doherty’s body was found in Churchill, Co Donegal on 17 June.

At approximately 1.50am on that date, gardaí and emergency services were called to a house at Drumacnoo near the village of Churchill, where the body of 67 year old Seamus Doherty was discovered. He was pronounced dead at the scene and removed to Letterkenny Hospital.

Following a post-mortem examination carried out by the State Pathologist Professor Marie Cassidy on 19 June, it was established that Doherty died in suspicious circumstances.

An incident room was set up at Letterkenny garda station and gardaí began a murder investigation.
