Twelve arrested after arson attack in Dungannon

Five men were inside the house in the Springdale area when it was ransacked before a fire was lit in the hall.

TWELVE MEN HAVE been arrested in Co. Tyrone after an arson attack on a house that contained five men last night.

Police in Dungannon say that the incident happened at around 9.50pm in Springdale when it was reported that a large group of men had forced their way into a house in the area.

The five men who were in the house are thought to have remained upstairs while extensive damage was caused downstairs. Materials were gathered in the hall and set alight before the group of men left the area in several vehicles.

PSNI officers who were called to the scene extinguished the fire and later stopped a number of vehicles at several locations that matched the descriptions of those involved in the incident.

A total of twelve men were arrested on suspicion of aggravated burglary and arson with intent to endanger life. The men remain in custody helping police with their enquiries.

Detectives in Dungannon are asking anyone who was in the Springdale area or who witnessed suspicious activity to contact them.
