DO YOU SPEND a lot of your day sitting still?

Physiotherapists in Ireland have expressed concern over the amount of time people spend being sedentary at work and at home, claiming that “sitting is the new smoking”.

A survey has indicated that the 18-24 age group are the least physically active, spending just 2.5 hours a day being active (or not sitting down). That’s less than half the recommended amount.

In comparison, the 55-64 and 65+ age groups are more physically active, reportedly spending on average 4.4 hours and 4.3 hours respectively per day being active.

So we’re asking you: Are you active for at least 2.5 hours on an average day?
