Witness "horrified" at seeing teen assaulted at Luas stop

The youth was injured during the assault, which occurred at 10.30pm on Saturday night.

A MAN WHO witnessed a teenager being assaulted at a Luas stop has said he was “horrified” at the incident.

He said he was on board the red line Luas tram when he saw a gang of youths fighting near the Jervis St platform

The witness said one male youth hit his face against the tram door before falling to the ground.

The witness called the emergency services.

The witness said that he was visiting Dublin and was “horrified” at what he saw. “It was a disgrace,” he said, adding that onlookers were afraid to intervene.

Gardaí said that at 10.30pm on Saturday night they received a report that a male was assaulted. When they arrived on scene they discovered a male, aged 17, on the ground.

It was alleged he had been assaulted and he was taken to the Mater Hospital for treatment.

Gardaí at Store St are investigating the incident.
