THE LARGEST SHOPPING centre in the midlands has entered receivership.

AIB appointed Stephen Tennant and Paul McCann of Grant Thornton as receivers to Athlone Towncentre Shopping Centre, in a move said to have been agreed by mutual consent.

All units within the centre are unaffected by the deal and will continue to trade as normal.

As well as the shopping centre and 1300-capacity car park , a number of apartments are included in the appointment, 150 of which are currently being rented.

Stores in the centre include Jack and Jones, Marks and Spencers, Topshop, Zara, and Next.
