Murder investigation launched after man (30s) fatally stabbed in Kildare

Gardaí are appealing for witnesses to the attack in Athy in the early hours of the morning.

GARDAÍ HAVE LAUNCHED a murder investigation after a man in was stabbed to death in the early hours of this morning in Co Kildare.

The victim, who was in his 30s, died at Midlands Regional Hospital this afternoon from injuries sustained during the knife attack on Duke Street in Athy.

It is understood the man, originally from Nurney, arrived to the scene at around 5.30 this morning, when a house party was taking place in the area.

Following the attack, his car was taken from the scene and burnt out about 200m away.

The scene has been preserved and investigations are ongoing, and gardaí are urging anyone with information to come forward, particularly those who attended the house party on Duke Street.
