Two men arrested over attempted armed robbery

One of the men allegedly threatened a woman with an iron bar at a commercial premises in Co Down.

POLICE IN BANBRIDGE, Co Down, have arrested two men following an attempted armed robbery in the Aughnacloy Road area on Friday 9 November.

The PSNI said that at around 3.20pm a man entered a commercial premises and threatened a female member of staff with an iron bar. He attempted to make off with the till but left empty-handed. The member of staff was left shaken but uninjured.

Police responded to the incident and as a result of information received, a vehicle was stopped in the general area and one man was arrested. Another man was located by police close to the scene.

A 28-year-old male has been charged with attempted robbery, obstructing police, possession of a Class C Controlled drug and going equipped for theft. A 25-year-old man has been charged with attempted robbery and going equipped for theft.

Both have been charged to appear at Banbridge Magistrates Court on Thursday 6 December.
