Police seeking witnesses after man dies in 'axe attack'

The incident happened in the early hours of the morning.

POLICE IN ENGLAND are appealing for witnesses following a major disturbance in Plymouth which left one man dead and a number of people injured.

Police were called to a disturbance at the Kings Arms pub, after reports of a man in possession of a knife and axe between 1-1.30am today.

The axe was recovered at the scene and officers are still looking for the knife.

On arrival, police found one man seriously injured and two men with knife injuries. A 27-year-old man was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead on arrival.

Two men, aged 20 and 21 and both from Plymouth, have been arrested on suspicion of murder in connection with this incident and are being detained.

Detective Superintendent Jim Colwell asked local residents “to keep an eye out for anything discarded in their bins or gardens that seems suspicious and to call police if anything is found, without touching it”.
