BUILT IN 1760, this wonderful Georgian five-bedroom residence sits on a quarter of an acre and is thought to have originally been a dowager house (home built for a widow).

The alternative is that is could have been built for a mistress of one of the earliest owners of Milltown Park.

The five-bedroom house has been lived in by its current owners since 1970 and is filled with natural light, high ceilings, period fireplaces, original doors and tall sash windows. It is one of the oldest surviving houses in South Dublin.

It’s on sale for €2.4 million.

Belmont was once used as a coach house for the Milltown Estate and oral history claims that Queen Victoria once visited it while travelling to see William Dargan in Mount Anville in 1840. Its grounds used to stretch as far as the Eglington Road.
