GARDAÍ INVESTIGATING the disappearance of a Latvian man from his home in Co Galway have discovered a body. Juris Buls, 30, has been missing since 7 July.

The remains, which have not yet been identified, were discovered in a wooded area near the Glenamaddy to Creggs Road in Gortnadeeve East yesterday evening.

The scene has been preserved for a technical examination and a post-mortem is due to be held today.

A 35-year-old man who was being questioned in connection with Buls’ disappearance was brought before a special sitting of Tuam District Court this morning and charged with withholding information.

Sergejs Krauze, originally from Latvia but with an address in Glenamaddy, Co Galway, was remanded in custody pending another court appearance on Tuesday, RTÉ reports.

  • That’s not a racist comment it’s quite a reasonable request in my view. There certainly appears to be a lot of non national involvement in murders whether victim or perpetrator.

  • Some truth in the above, but I reckon our home grown murderers outnumber them, by far. Sure gangland shootings alone would wipe out any foreign national in foreign national murder.

  • Rte news has just reported that a latvian man has just been charged.

If convicted he should serve a prision sentence and, immediately upon release be deported permanently from Ireland

I made this point the other day when this story broke and was picked up for ‘assuming’ it would be one foreigner killing another.

    • One human killed another. End of story. You think that Latvians are more criminal than Irish?

    • If the accused turned out to be Irish would you have come back and left a comment?

    • Just my point to the negative vote person. We live here, it’s a fact, immigrants who replace Irish emigrants and welfare users. We are here because we are fellow EU citizens, the structure you joined as we did. We are humans, as you are: we can be smart and stupid, cruel and good to others. We have many rights here and pay taxes, we are legal. There were many occasions when eastern Europeans were attacked and killed by Irish or other cases when Eastern Europeans killed others eastern Europeans or even Irish. But we do not bring anything new here, it’s just human nature. Even if you will deport us all there will be the same level if violence and crime. And assuming that all crimes are committed by foreigners before you even know details, is just purely speculative and racist if you wish, Barry R.

  • Just for the record, I cannot recall any case in recent years in Ireland, when group of foreigners assaulted Irish person and kicked do death. I know of at least couple of such cases from Irish towards foreigners though.
Last one in Coolock when decent hard working Polish man was beaten and died following assault.
Do I think bad of Irish because of that? Not at all.
Do I think that crime was racially motivated? Not at all. They would jump anybody else in their way too.

My point? It’s bullshit foreigners do more crime, and bad people are bad people, whatever nationality they are.

    Don’t live by stereotypes!

  • I hate the thought of being called racist, but I’d like to see the stats. How many of the murders and serious assaults/attempted murders have involved foreign nationals, in the past five years?

  • By the way, the man is charged with withholding information, not murder.
