Ferrybank

Body discovered in Waterford

A post mortem is expected to take place tomorrow.

A BODY HAS been discovered in Waterford.

A member of the public spotted the body in the water at Granny, Ferrybank, at around 5:15 this evening.

Gardaí and The Coast Guard were contacted.

A Coast Guard helicopter was launched and directed the river rescue team to the location of the body.

The body was taken from the water to the slipway at Granny.

The remains have now been removed to Waterford University Mortuary where a post mortem is expected to take place tomorrow.

It is not known at this stage if the body is that of a man or a woman
