Police attending security alert in Derry city

A bomb disposal unit has been dispatched to Drumleck Drive in the north of the city after a suspicious device was found.

A NUMBER OF HOUSES in a residential area in the north of Derry city have been evacuated this morning following a security alert.

A suspicious device was located at the Drumleck Drive area in the north of the city.

An ammunition technical officer team has been dispatched to deal with the device.

A number of houses have been evacuated with a local sports complex being made available for evacuated residents.

Drumleck Drive itself has been closed at its junctions with Racecourse Road and Drumleck Gardens.
