Howlin: 'I wish this government hadn't come in when our economy was broken'

PUBLIC EXPENDITURE AND Reform Minister Brendan Howlin has said that he is not happy about any cuts that the government has had to make.

Speaking to reporters prior to this morning’s Cabinet meeting, Howlin said he wished this government had not come into office “when our economy was broken”.

He said this is the reality that faced the government when it came into office but said it is well on the way to achieving “our path to solvency”.

Also speaking outside Government Buildings this morning, the Tánaiste Eamon Gilmore said there would be no reversal of the cuts implemented in last week’s Budget:
