4 of a kind

4 of a kind: Bungalows around Dublin city and county

From a spectacular three-bed in Dublin 6 to a two-for-one deal in Blanchardstown.

AS SPACE BECOMES a premium in the Irish capital, demand is rising higher for bungalows, which are generally less hemmed in than your classic two-up two-down.

Bungalows are also a great option for young families or anyone with mobility issues due to their simplified layout. But with supply for one-level homes in short stock, you’ll have to be on your toes when house-hunting.

This week we’ve rounded up four bungalows, each within easy access of Dublin city. Read on to see what’s on the market right now…

Rathmines, Dublin 6

Spread over an impressive 1,775 sq ft, Tawnabeg is a property created for spacious living. With three bedrooms and two bathrooms, the Dublin 6 home sits on 0.29 acres of gardens – ideal for a young family.  The home, which was totally refurbished and extended in 2016, offers a warm and welcoming atmosphere upon entering thanks to two large full length windows flooding the room with light.

The country-style kitchen is a food-lover’s dream, complete with plenty of storage space, a double ceramic sink, a cream three-oven Aga and centre island. The open plan kitchen and dining room lead to the south-facing garden, where seating is provided for outdoor dining on the sandstone patio. Access to the attic floor provides further room for entertaining or relaxing. With Dartry and Ranelagh on its doorstep, as well as two Luas stops, Tawnabeg strikes the perfect balance between city and suburb.

Yours for €2,250,000.

Blanchardstown, Dublin 15

If one bungalow isn’t enough for you, how about nabbing two that are being sold as one lot? Bungalows Ashdale and Riverview sit on 0.3 of an acre, just off the main street of Blanchardstown village. Both homes share a sunny garden and parking area which can hold up to four cars.

Spanning over 1,410 sq ft, Ashdale has three bedrooms, all complete with built-in wardrobes and laminate floors. Most impressively, perhaps, is the master bedroom which contains an ensuite bathroom with a jacuzzi bath and separate shower. Riverview, on the other hand, stretches over 1,507 sq ft and holds two bedrooms. Alongside a utility room, workshop and generous-sized kitchen, the property has a converted attic.

The properties are sold as one lot only for €750,000.
