Man arrested following discovery of cannabis herb worth €120k

Gardaí searched a car on the Naas Road and the driver was arrested at the scene.

A MAN has been arrested following the discovery of cannabis herb worth €120,000.

As part of on-going intelligence-led operations targeting the sale and supply of drugs, the Garda National Drug Unit seized the cannabis herb and arrested a 30-year-old man on the Naas Road yesterday evening.

At approximately 7.30pm yesterday evening, gardaí stopped a car on the Naas Road near Clondalkin.

Following a search of the car, cannabis herb was discovered with an estimated street value of up to €120,000.

The driver of the car was arrested at the scene and is currently detained under the provisions of Section 2 of the Criminal Justice (Drug Trafficking) Act 1996 at Clondalkin Garda Station.

The gardaí said these operations use advanced analytical and intelligence methods to disrupt criminals and dismantle their networks.

They added that drug seizures play a critical role in targeting the livelihood of criminals and reducing their ability to carry out illegal activities and also help protect communities from the devastating impact of drugs and the associated criminality.
